Progress Not Perfection

God (whatever that means) loves my progress. Only I think it is to slow. Rabbi Mitch

My entire life I viewed progress as a synonym for failure. Consequently, relapse was a constant in my life whether it was alcohol, drugs, sex, food, shopping, pornography and any other addictive behaviors I had. I could not grasp the notion of baby steps as for me, that required that I acknowledge my powerlessness and unmanageability and why would I want to do that!!

I am grateful for many gifts I have been blessed with in my sober journey. The foundation upon which all has been built was finding a Higher Power and learning that tiny moments of change were major victories. I no longer needed to accomplish vast tasks. I learned that at 40 years of age, baby steps had real value for this addict.

As a Rabbi and Spiritual Counselor I help people daily begin their spiritual journey. I am able to share my personal experience of powerlessness to powerful and from perfection to progress. Whatever your obstacles are, you do not have to go it alone nor do you have to get it all done today. The harder you try the worse you will feel when you don’t succeed.

My prayer for you today is to locate inside you a spiritual “something” that allows you to know that your progress makes God (whatever that means) smile and that you are going at the speed you are supposed to be journeying.

I am a modern and independent Rabbi dedicated to healing, addiction recovery, spiritual joy and customized life cycle events.

If you, a family member or someone you know is in pain and needs help, act today by calling me at 954-755-3764 or via email at: You will get the help you or a loved one need and deserve.
