Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimension. Oliver Wendell Holmes
Today is a new day of awe and I am grateful to share a slice of it with you. There are days when I awaken with my mind moving at warp speed and there are days when I awaken with my mind feeling sluggish and confused. There was a time when that bothered me as I always believed that unless my mind was creating, conceiving, connecting and coalescing there was something wrong.
Through much trial and error I have come to a place in my journey that now fully comprehends that where ever my mind and spirit are, it is expanding and whatever thoughts/feelings I am having are contributing to my growth. As long as I draw a breath and allow myself to create a visual image, I am changing by the second and will never return to the place I was prior to whatever moved me to this new place.
As a Rabbi and Addiction Counselor I am often asked if I have always been this positive and wise. I laugh and smile and let congregants and clients know that whatever it is that I have been blessed with comes from a place of darkness and despair. They say that is not possible and I let them know that I did not think it possible either when I began my journey of recovery in October, 1988.
How exciting to know that I am forever becoming rather than just being. Stop and consider the endless possibilities of who we can each become when we affirm the dynamic and energized changes that are occurring within us every time we have another thought/feeling. We can be so complacent in the face of this majesty of dynamic change. We can embrace our thoughts and allow for the dots not to be connected and know that they are still connected. I love the power I have over seeing my ever expanding universe.
My prayer for you today is that you affirm your mind/feelings, your thoughts, your soul and your endless possibilities as you journey through this universe one thought/vision and breath at a time.
