In my journey as a Rabbi in Recovery, I have learned over and over how much can be accomplished in moving one from negative to positive actions in seconds let alone minutes. Five good minutes used well can change your entire life.
I know how busy you are and how much you have to get done for others, your children, your boss, your colleagues, your partner, your friends, your volunteer commitments and the list goes on. Where are you on that list? If you are not first then everyone else on that list will not get the best of you.
You can find five minutes at the start of your day if you choose to. We both know that. These are the best five minutes I spend with me everyday for they are the five minutes that set the tone for my day.
I use these five minutes to affirm my goodness, kindness, value, faith, love and joy. I find my purpose for today in these five minutes. I identify my goals for today in these five minutes. I affirm my love for my family and friends in these five minutes. I pray for the sick and suffering in these five minutes.
Five minutes may seem of little significance, but my friends, it is eternity when I fill it with my value, spirit and soul, for then it is no longer about time, but about me.
My prayer for you today is that you value you enough to find five good minutes at the start of your day to know what it is you want and need to achieve today.
