Ethics

“Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.”  - Mark TwainEthics

Ethics refers to a set of norms and morals that govern human action and inform what we ought or should do. This is a very powerful part of our lives that frequently can cause a conflict for us.

How often are we posed with what we know we should do, but do not want to do. We know it is the right thing and we just don’t want to. Think of the amount of time and energy we expend having this war in our minds, hearts and souls, when as Twain suggests, just do the “right” thing, smile inside and move on.

As a rabbi and Spiritual Counselor, people often tell me that I am the happiest person they know. That is an awesome compliment and I express my appreciation for their comment. I know that one of the reasons for my happiness has been my ability to let go of all that energy I used to spend on “figuring” out what the right thing was when all along, I knew exactly what it was and just did not want to do it. The self honesty moved me to a place of greater acceptance and willingness to do the right thing as I now was the recipient of an internal victory that left me feeling energized and grateful.

My prayer for you today is that you let go and do the right thing knowing that the freedom you will feel will move you to a whole new and wonderful place in your journey.

Hugs and Blessings,
Rabbi Mitch
